Kindergarten Extended Day Parent Letter

Beginning in September, 2008 the Boxborough School District will be operating its own extended day program at Blanchard Memorial School. We will offer a quality before and after school program for children in kindergarten through grade six. The program will strive to meet and foster the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each of our students. The program will consist of daily arts and crafts, games, outside play, homework time, and many other activities.
The Blanchard Extended Day Program will be open before school from 7:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m.
After school Extended Day Program will be open from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The Blanchard Extended Day Program will be available on early release days from 12:00 p.m. until 6 p.m.
For The 2008-2009 School Year Only:
Before school Extended Day Program will be available for kindergarten students from 7:00 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.
The morning Kindergarten Extended Day Program will be available from 8:45 a.m. until 12:20 p.m.
The mid-day Kindergarten Extended Day Program will be available from 11:20 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The after school Kindergarten will be available from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
We are pleased to announce that Ms. Maribeth Higgins has been selected as the new Director of the Blanchard Extended Day Program. Ms. Higgins has been the Staff Leader and Head Teacher at the current extended day program held at Blanchard under the direction of the Acton-Boxborough Community Education Program.
We are in the process of finalizing her contract and developing the necessary paperwork to begin the registration process for the 2008-2009 Blanchard Extended Day Program. All parents/guardians of the Blanchard Memorial School will receive a program description, fees, and registration information after February school vacation. April 1, 2008
Dear Parents/Guardians of Incoming Kindergarten Students,
On Thursday, March 13, 2008, the Boxborough School Committee voted to establish full-day kindergarten at the Blanchard School for the 2009-2010 school year. To assist parents/guardians in need of a full-day program for their kindergarten age child, Blanchard Memorial School will offer its own kindergarten extended day program for the 2008-2009 school year. Space will be available for all parents/guardians interested in enrolling their kindergarten child in the extended day program. There will be no enrollment limitations to the program.
You will have the opportunity to choose extended day enrollment options from one to five days per week. The fee schedule for the kindergarten extended day program is attached for your review.
Registration forms for the 2008-2009 extended day program have been sent to parents/guardians of children currently enrolled in the existing extended day program. Kindergarten extended day registration cannot occur until your child has been assigned to the morning session or afternoon session of kindergarten. Work on kindergarten session assignments cannot occur until the bus routes have been established by Dee Bus Company, in collaboration with our office personnel. This process is usually completed in May. Therefore, registration forms for the kindergarten extended day program will be included with your child’s teacher and session assignment which will be mailed to you on June 1, 2008.
